Name/Work Name: Son Goku/Sora
Canon: Dragon Ball
Canon Point: Post-Piccolo Daimao saga
AU/CRAU: Nope.
Age: 15
History: Born on the Planet Vegeta, the Saiyan infant known as Kakarotto was sent to Earth on a mission to destroy it. However, after a case of severe head trauma he forgot his mission and was nursed back to health by a kindly old martial arts master known as Son Gohan, who took the child in as his own and named him Goku. As part of his Saiyan heritage, Goku had a natural talent for martial arts, however the darker sides of his Saiyan nature also remained... On the night of the full moon, Saiyans gain the ability to transform into an Oozaru, a giant were ape, as long as they have their tails intact. One night after Goku assumed this form, Gohan was killed leaving Goku to live on his own for the next few years.
Eventually, Goku's solitude was ended by the arrival of Bulma, a teenage girl in search of the Dragon Balls, one of which, the Four Star Ball, belonged to Gohan before he died. Bulma revealed that when all seven balls were gathered a Dragon would be summoned to grant the possessor a single wish. On the journey to gather all the Dragon Balls, Goku and Bulma met new allies and rivals such as Oolong the shape shifting pig and the desert bandits Yamcha and Puar. As their search neared its end the group were taken hostage by the nefarious Emperor Pilaf with aspirations of world domination. After a daring plan in which Oolong was able to get a wish in before Pilaf, the group were sentenced to death in a room that would cook them alive in the sun's rays, fortunately however the transparent ceiling allowed Goku a clear view of the full moon that night allowing the Oozaru to wreak havoc upon Pilaf's castle. Once Goku's allies were clear of the castle wreckage, Yamcha was able to remember that Goku's tail was his weakness and removed it returning him back to his normal state.
Following this, Goku went his separate ways from the gang to train under Turtle Hermit Master Roshi, Gohan's former master who he had met during the quest for the Dragon Balls. Alongside Roshi's other apprentice Krillin, he trained for the upcoming Tenkaichi Budokai tournament. Goku made it all the way to the final round where he was defeated by a mysterious man known as Jackie Chun. Inspired to become even tougher following this loss, he set out on a mission to become stronger while searching for Gohan's Dragon Ball which had scattered following the previous wish. Also searching for the Dragon Balls were the Red Ribbon Army, entire squadrons of which were single-handedly destroyed by Goku. As the army became desperate, they hired Tao Pai Pai, the world's greatest assassin, who managed to kill Goku's new friend Bora before Goku received training from Lord Karin of Karin Tower allowing him to defeat Tao. As the Red Ribbon Army was finally destroyed, Goku was able to use the Dragon Balls to restore Bora's life, making sure to get his hands on the Four Star Ball before it scattered with the others.
After another three years of solo training, Goku returned to the Tenkaichi Budokai where he reunited with all his old friends, and some new enemies. Master Roshi's rival, the Crane Hermit, had also entered his apprentices Tenshinhan and Chaozu into the tournament. Not only that, but the Crane Hermit was also the brother of Tao Pai Pai, and instantly swore revenge upon Goku upon discovering that he had killed Tao. However, as the tournament progresses, Jackie Chun's words of wisdom get to Tenshinhan, causing him to rebel against the Crane Hermit during his finals match with Goku. The match is a close one, with Ten winning by a truck nose. Ten and Chaozu invite Goku and friends to dinner, however something terrible happens. While going to collect Goku's stuff for him, Krillin is murdered by a monster who takes the Four Star Ball. Goku hastily chases after said monster, which leads him to a confrontation with the King of Demons, Piccolo Daimao. After a humiliating defeat, Goku returns for more training with Karin, risking his life by drinking the Super God Water which will either increase his power exponentially, or kill him. Surviving the Super God Water, Goku goes to face off against Piccolo once again, who has restored his youth with the Dragon Balls before subsequently killing the Dragon. Goku eventually wins the fight using his Oozaru-ken, an attack which he pours all his remaining energy into to pierce through Piccolo's torso.
Personality: Son Goku is, and always will be, a child at heart. Raised in the mountains by his adoptive grandfather he grew up completely clueless to the ways of the world until meeting Bulma, a city girl who opened the world up to him. Despite venturing out of the wild, Goku never lost his innocence. He sees the world as a place of wonder and adventure, and rarely allows himself to be tied down to any particular person or place for an extended period of time to the point where it can sometime be years between the times he actually contacts his friends. Of course, this isn’t due to any avoidance so much as the fact that the world provides so many distractions to keep him busy.
More so than discovering the world though, the one thing Goku loves most is fighting. A natural martial artist with a penchant for genius improvisation, he trains constantly with only one true goal in mind, to be the best. No matter what the situation, his pride as a warrior will come first, even if it means making unnecessary risks. Such as instances later in the series like letting Ma Junior take a free shot after Kami-sama blocked a punch during the Tenkaichi Budokai, or begging Krillin to let Vegeta live so that they could someday have a rematch, despite Vegeta’s promise that he would one day return to wipe out everyone on Earth. His strong belief in giving people second chances has over the years gained him many powerful allies, yet for all his trusting nature there have been times it was exploited by those who were completely unredeemable like the assassin Tao Pai Pai.
He has little real understanding of how the world around him operates as a whole and as such will take many things in stride, not really noticing how odd they may be, or in some cases be bewildered by the most simple of natural things. As a Saiyan, he also has a natural penchant for eating ridiculous amounts of food, eating being his favourite pastime that doesn’t involve punching people in their faces. If he hasn’t eaten for too long, he’ll also become exhausted and unable to use his full power. He’ll often hunt for his own meals, fish being one of his favourites. Unlike most fishermen however, Goku will strip naked and jump in the lake, duking it out with the biggest fish he can find so he can bring it back for dinner.
Outside of battle, he has little perceptive ability and even less tact, leading to him behaving inappropriately at most times. He’ll talk with his mouth full, walk around naked and even bring up uncomfortable subjects without ever noticing he’s doing anything wrong. He’s still a good person at heart though and is willing to help people out even if there’s nothing in it for him. (He’d like it if you at least fed him though!)
Goku also has just one berserk button. Don’t hurt his friends. Anyone who does this will find themselves beat within an inch of their life before being given a chance to repent, to the point that after Krillin’s death at the hands of Tambourine, he goes on the warpath to eliminate not only Tambourine himself but Piccolo Daimao’s entire demon clan. So basically, you should be nice and make sure he doesn’t think you’re evil and you’ll get along fine.
Debt: Shen Long the Dragon God was killed by Piccolo Daimao after granting his wish, leaving the Dragon Balls unusable for reviving the hundreds of people slain by Piccolo and his clan. Goku was going to visit the God of Earth, Kami-sama, to request the balls be restored when he came across the witch instead.
Suitability: Goku is pretty well known for not letting anything bother him ever, unless you hurt someone he calls a friend.
Previous Game Info: N/A
Inventory: A tattered Kamesen-ryuu dougi, the Nyoibou (AKA. Power Pole), Kintoun (AKA. Flying Nimbus Cloud).
Abilities, Strengths, and Weaknesses: Goku is a Saiyan, a natural born warrior race with natural strength far beyond that of humans (to the point where he is the strongest man on Earth, yet considered pathetic by Saiyan standards), like all Saiyans he was born with a tail which contained a gland which is triggered by the light of the full moon to turn him into a giant raging ape monster (Oozaru). Through intense training he has mastered many impressive techniques, such as shooting balls of concentrated life energy (ki blasts), moving at speeds where he leaves behind afterimages as decoys (zanzouken) and other such techniques. He is also known to be entirely pure of heart, as shown by his ability to ride the magic Kintoun cloud and even survive the Devilman’s Devilmite Beam, known to kill anyone with even a trace of wickedness in their heart.
